"I don't know where to begin, but I do hope this email comes in handy for other AH users that have any of the Roland Space Echo machines.  Purchased 2 SRE-555's at different times.  My whole plan was to use the tape delays in stereo.  Of course the second you get another unit, you start to notice a lot of inconsistency such as different input levels, delay speeds, and reverb tanks that would seem normal yet are flawed.

I spent 2 years and a ton of cash going to techs in the Los Angeles area.  Pretty much wasted a lot of time and money.  I was devastated. 

I thought, man.. there has to be a Rudi of Lamm Memorymoogs for Space Echos out there somewhere.. So after a hard search I came across www.creationtapes.co.nz

I went back and forth emailing with Ron of Creation Tapes.  Around 30 emails or so before I decided to rape my wallet again. I then felt I would give it one last chance and just go for it.  So I boxed up both SRE's and Fed Ex'ed them.  That was a mistake. It costed around 900 bucks to ship both units to New Zealand.  But he got them within a few days, and began working on them.  He is the only person I know out of all the techs that actually opens up the motors to replace the ball bearings and clean everything up.  The first one was finished, but I was not going to ship fed ex since I could just pick them up in person for cheaper, so we sent them via the Post office in NZ, and put them in the max sized box that the post office would allow.  Shipping this way was loads cheaper, and I didn't have to pay any taxes from customs.

The first Space echo came back in my hands within 7 days of when he shipped it, and the 2nd Space Echo came back 4 days from him shipping.

They arrived in perfect working condition.  They sounded amazing.  They both were as identical in sound as they can get.  If anyone ever needs an amazing service man who knows how to get this done right, please give Ron at Creation Tapes a try.
